How To Make Baguette

Ingredients:

Organic wheat flour*, salt, organic barley malt flour*

*100% certified organic

What you need:

  • Baguette baking mix (1 box)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 ¼ cups (300ml) of water (72-75°F)
  • 1 packet of included dried yeast (7 grams)

How to make it:

  1. Add the water, olive oil, baguette baking mix, and dried yeast into a mixing bowl. Knead the dough slowly for 2 minutes, then a little faster for 8 minutes.
  2. Put the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and divide it into three equal pieces.
  3. Shape each piece of dough into a loaf, flip it over, and cover it for 10 minutes.
  4. Line a 14×16-inch baking sheet with baking paper or use baking spray.
  5. Pat the surface of the dough with the palm of your hand to flatten it slightly. Fold and roll each loaf into a sausage shape, approximately 12 inches long.
  6. Roll the loaves in flour, place them on the baking sheet, and cover them with plastic wrap for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  7. Preheat the oven to 430°F. Place an empty heatproof container at the bottom of the stove (add ½ cup of water when the bread goes in).
  8. Just before baking, make four minor diagonal cuts along the length of each loaf.
  9. Bake the loaves for 28-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Beware of hot steam when opening the oven! Let the loaves cool on a wire rack.

Tip: Italian herbs such as rosemary or oregano can be added during the mixing of the dough. One tablespoon of dried herbs adds great flavor to the bread.
